Yoga dreams

Yoga Teaching Dreams??

Last night I was having a dream abut teaching my first yoga class. The setting was a posh gym like a sports club of LA, or an Equinox. There were fortunately many students taking the class, so I felt relieved and terrified all at once. However, I kept my cool and started the class with cat and cow, plank, and then the vinyasa flow. I have to say I was impressed that the class was following along, and not noticing how freaked out I was. Out of the blue a NBA team strolls in and takes over the yoga studio.

The team was dribbling, and walking over the students. I was so angry I stormed out of the studio to find the manager of the gym. This manager ran away from me, because they were too embarrassed to tell me they double booked the room. Once I got back to the studio the dream got weirder. The yoga students had continued their flow, and the basket ball players were weaving in and out of the students. When the class noticed the horror in my eyes they all got up, and told me they liked my music and left.

Now when I do teach my first class I hope no one notices how freaked I am, and I hope they like the music.

Apprenticing
In the first week of hands on training I noticed how everyone understood an instruction differently. In the second week I wanted to fix everyone’s poses. The third week I am taking direction from my teachers, and teaching students at the same time. It is weird not to be teaching, and not being a student. I consider my self floating in between both worlds. It’s a trip.

The third week was a turning point, visually, physically, and mentally. This week is very hot, and it’s like a sauna in some classes. I was drenched Claire Hartley’s class yesterday. I was not even flowing with the class, but sweat dripped down every where it could. I lost my train of thought for a few seconds, and had to shake myself back into focus.

What I have seen these last few classes is interesting to me. I stand by my philosophy of every body being different, and can see it in a room of experienced yogis. The most basic pose Tadasana (Mountain Pose) everyone looks different in it. This is the best part of training by far. If I got up in front of a class before I saw any of this I would have felt like running for cover!

yoga

Some say its a way of life, some a life style. I just love it no matter what.
